  • Chef de Partie - Hiring


    The Treetop Chef de Partie at the Grotto Spa’s Treetop Tapas & Grill is a pivotal piece of a distinct culinary experience. Situated in an intimate 30-seat, reservations-only setting, and featuring a set menu with a uniform tapas presentation. Highly skilled in their area of expertise, able to work under pressure, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. This role is a respected role in a kitchen's operation, often acting as a stepping stone to more senior culinary positions such as Sous Chef or Head Chef.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    - Adhere to all expenditure limits for labor, food costs, and expenses, while maintaining consistent high-quality dishes.
    - Collaborating closely with the Treetop Chef
    - Maintain a positive and collaborative team environment.
    - Maintain high standards in cleanliness, appearance, and hygiene.

    Qualification and Skills:

    - Proficiency in the English language
    - Three to five years’ experience cooking and preparing food in an established restaurant or high-volume food service facility.
    - Leadership and communication skills
    - Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
    - High attention to detail, honesty, reliability, confidentiality, and fairness
    - Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills for seamless coordination of culinary operations.
    - Strong communication skills, and the capability of articulating and embodying the visions of the spa and Treetop Tapas & Grill.
    - Red Seal Certification a strong asset
    - Ability to take direction and embrace feedback.

Spa Coordinators will work full-time at our spa front desk / reception area, to greet guests, provide spa tours, assist with retail sales, process payments, answer questions about the spa and its amenities and manage the spa schedule throughout the day.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    - Greet and acknowledge all Guests you meet, providing friendly assistance to ensure they are comfortable and relaxed.
    - Ensure Guests are well informed about their services including what to expect, how to position themselves, how the service will proceed, what products will be used, all the benefits the Guest can expect, and home care / follow up.
    - Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of Spa products and services. Use this knowledge to educate Guests and help them purchase additional services and products suited to the needs / desires.
    - Follow up with all Guest requests, and all Guests who make purchases.
    - Ensure Guests are well informed about their services including what to expect, how to position themselves, how the service will proceed, what products will be used, all the benefits the Guest can expect, and home care / follow up.
    - Ensure cleanliness standards are adhered to including proper disinfectant procedures in guest areas.
    - Ensure all displays and retail areas are to be kept clean, organized, and dust-free.
    - Cleaning and laundry tasks include emptying used laundry, folding clean laundry, cleaning sandals and change rooms, restocking guest lockers ensuring lockers and supplies fully are stocked, and high level of cleanliness maintained.

    Education, Experience & Skill Set:

    - Flexibility to work combination of weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays
    - Detail-oriented with a positive attitude that contributes to a healthy, friendly, and supportive workplace
    - Able to drive a golf cart safely (BC driver’s license not required)
    - Physically able to perform job duties (standing, lift to 20 lbs, walk up and down stairs)

    Job description

    To consistently meet the high standards required for cleanliness, sanitization and hygiene within the Grotto Spa, as set by the Spa Industry Association of Canada and the Vancouver Island Health Board.

    - Physically able to perform cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and stairs
    - Able to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to complete checklist
    - Detail oriented and able to work independently
    - Able to work safely with chemicals and equipment
    - Able to drive a golf cart safely (BC driver’s license not required)
